Monty's consists of a big eating area with different shapes and sizes of tables, set up more like a restaurant, with windows stretching across the whole room. It looks out onto the lower campus and even downtown Bloomsburg. In order to get food you have to stand in one of four different lines all with different types of food. One section is more of a home style food like chicken, mashed potatoes, corn, etc., another line is the one that normally makes fresh pastas or stir fries, also another line consists of the deli/quesadilla foods, and the last line is the grilled foods. Most of these foods change with everyday except for the grill line always stays the same. Then looking around you in line there are fridges with drinks, soup pots, drink fountains, already prepared/ready-to-go food, and then the check out counter. There is a counter open to the tables that provides the utensils and condiments and then along the other wall are the trash cans and bins for non-disposible items such as silverware and plates. People stand in the lines for different amounts of times depending on how long the line is, how complicated the food is to prepare, what time of the day it is, or if the cook is slow or fast, etc. Normally a usual line at a busy time will take about 15 to 20 mins. and people normally stand there on their phones of chatting with their friends. The students then find a drink, which doesn't take more than a couple minutes and then checking out can take anywhere from 5 to 10 mins. Once everyone is settled down eating with their friends they normally sit and chat, maybe watch the TV if located in that section. Girls tend to stay and hang out longer after finished eating while guys eat and leave. I was just focusing on the groups of people that stayed to eat because normally you don't see a single student eating by themselves.
The way that this food place is set up is so that students can get food to go or sit down and hang out. This shows that students always have different lives and different things to do in that they need to try and please everyone. Also another thing is the variety of food that they supply for choices shows how everyone likes or is hungry for something different. Another thing that I kind of pointed out already is that students travel in packs. I know I wouldn't want to eat by myself if I didn't have to, but that's something I noticed. Students normally at least have someone else sitting with them or I noticed if it was someone by themselves then they take their food to go. Guys tend to go to the grill section and girls go elsewhere, I think that may say something about that the girls just may want to eat the healthier food. Girls also talk a lot more normally so then after eating they sit and talk for about a half hour and guys eat, talk a little and then leave. I think that if we could study what types of foods people choose and who those people hang out with really cold tell a lot about these students in this environment but that is a more extensive study.
